“Mom & Son” sold

After a long and eventful show life, “Mom & Son” is now going to live a peaceful life in a loving home, surrounded with pastures and happy horses – right where it belongs.

Soft, finely detailed drawing of two horses - an mare and a foal pictured from a side. The mare (mom) is peacefully grazing with her head on the right lowered to the grass. The several months old foal is standing by her side suckling, his head slightly lowered to get to his mom's milk. Their bodies overlap. The grass beneath them is lightly sketched with fine strokes.

A somewhat failed experiment with charcoal on top of soft pastels – I was aiming for a little different, more dramatic look. Apparently a workable fixative is not capable of holding even a thin amount of pastel in place, and it keeps mixing with charcoal. I wonder what would work better?
