Newborn won the Best Realism Award at the Fall Festival Art Show 2014, was featured in Beaverton’s Your Art Moment series.
I only saw a live newborn foal once at the Tersk Stud in the Northern Caucasus. He was prancing around his mother who busily grazed on the first spring grass. It’s amazing how much energy can be packed into a small body that consists mainly of legs!
This portrait of very young foal was a nice detour from fully realistic colors and a few purely technique-related things I usually use.
